EMPR has been named in the Official UK Top 100 Home-Based Businesses at the UK Small Business Awards 2025, as well as being Highly Recommended in the Best Small Business category. 
The UK Small Business Awards celebrate outstanding small businesses across the UK that demonstrate innovation, impact, and excellence in their field, allowing small businesses across the country to enter a range of categories.
EMPR was named a finalist in both the Best Small Business and Best Home Based Business categories following review by the awards organisers, before being reviewed by an experienced panel of judges, leading to it being recognised in both categories.
The Highly Recommended accolade is for businesses that came very close to reaching the UK Top 10, and showed “exceptional talent in this category”, organisers said, adding that competition in the awards this year had been tougher than ever.
As a PR consultant, I always advise my clients to enter awards, and have helped several with their submissions, resulting in them reaching shortlists and finals and also winning.
Knowing it’s great to put oneself out there is a different story from doing it for oneself. Perhaps because it’s somewhat counter intuitive to how I brought up (my generation was always told that nobody likes a show-off…)
That said, as a one-man band/solopreneur/micro business or whatever you want to call it, nobody else is going to shout for you when things go well, so sometimes you have to bite the bullet and send that application. I may not have won, but these accolades serve as an acknowledgement that I do what I do well, add value for my clients, build long lasting relationships and do my work with integrity and whilst sticking to my values.
