International coverage for Band of Builders’ Big Brew campaign & text service

EMPR has been working with construction charity Band of Builders on a pro bono basis for many years. In that time the charity has grown beyond recognition, undertaking record numbers of projects to help more people than ever.

That growth means that BoB now engages the services of Octopus Public Relations and EMPR works to support Paul on the ever-growing PR and comms that BoB requires, from press releases and project announcements to media liaison, interview scheduling, internal comms and awards entries.

BoB’s growth has also seen the charity launch the Big Brew – a growing campaign to get tradespeople to open up about their mental health over a cuppa, with events held in builders’ merchants and on construction sites across the UK.

The 2021 campaign was a huge success, but 2022 also saw the launch of a new text service so that  tradespeople, contractors and their families struggling to open up in person can text BOB to 85258 at any time to get much-needed help.

The launch of the text service and the Big Brew as a whole received an unprecedented amount of media coverage. Between September 1st and December 31st 2022:-

  • There were 323 pieces of media coverage
  • The audience reach of the Big Brew campaign was 216,821,841
  • The story appeared on sites and platforms including Yahoo!, The Independent, LadBible, AOL, the Daily Mail and LBC
  • The story was picked in New Zealand.
