Promoting the launch of The George, Kilsby with Koyah PR

The George Kilsby

At EMPR I love a local project – so what better than to be asked to help with the launch of the newly-revamped George at Kilsby.

The team behind The George had engaged the services of the wonderful Koyah PR who asked me to come on board to help spread the word about the reopening of this much-loved pub, and to help organise and execute a launch event.

In the run-up to the reopening, Michelle and I collaborated on a press release announcing the reopening of The George with chef patron Hari Krishnamurthy at the helm. The George would offer a a varied menu of Indian-inspired dishes along with popular pub favourites including burgers, wood-fired pizzas and grills, with vegan, vegetarian and Halal diets well catered for.

The forthcoming reopening was covered widely in local media and also in industry press, creating a buzz around what would be a great addition to the local food scene in this area.

EMPR and Koyah PR also organised a launch event to take place a few months after opening to welcome media, local businesses and members of the community to celebrate the successful relaunch of The George and to mark the launch of a new Indian supper club.

The glitzy event was attended by guests including local business leaders, Rugby’s Mayor and Michelin-starred restaurateur Andreas Antona, as well as influencers and suppliers.

South Indian-inspired dishes from chef patron Hari were showcased, including: prawn ghee roast with moilee sauce, raw mango and vegetable thoran; pork vindaloo croquettes with lemon aioli and burnt apple purée; Kerala beef roast with pickled turnip and blini, and spiced chicken with black dhal, feta cheese crumbs and pickled onion.

Dessert was a dark chocolate delice and guests enjoyed a signature cocktail of Midori, fresh mint and herbs as they enjoyed music from Warwickshire band Andi Wolf.

The GeorgeHari said: “The first few months have been a whirlwind at The George. We’ve had an amazing reception locally, as well as some great reviews. It was wonderful to finally host an event to celebrate reopening, as well as showcasing some of the South Indian dishes that make an appearance in our menu alongside some classic pub dishes.

“We’re excited to add Hari’s Indian Supper Club to our offering at The George and hope that it, and our new autumn menu, will be as much of a hit with everyone as our first menu was. We can’t wait to build on what has been a brilliant start for us and are looking forward to a busy autumn, winter and festive season.”
